The Celgene Drug Safety Department is able to provide unique experiences for undergraduate students who have completed year 1 and 2 of their course and who are interested in the Drug Safety environment as a career opportunity. We have created a 52 week academic internship program for students to explore Pharmacovigilance in a pharmaceutical company before they return to complete their final year of study.

By the end of the program, the Intern will have received an overview of the Pharmaceutical Industry and Celgene’s place within this industry. Additionally, the Intern will have gained an appreciation of the Drug Safety Sciences with a focus on Pharmacovigilance regulations, good Pharmacovigilance practices, drug safety in clinical trials protocols, Pharmacovigilance system design, case management organization model development, good knowledge and mastery of safety database, quality and regulatory expectations, data interpretation and presentation. From this experience, students are expected to report their findings in a short oral presentation at the end of their internship.

The Interns will support day-to-day activities and ongoing project within the Case Management group and the Safety Operations group.

These tasks will include working on our Global Safety Reporting database on activities like receipt, data entry and assessment of Individual Safety Reports. Further, depending on the orientation plan and on the progresses observed by the Intern Supervisor, the Intern can expect exposure to and experience with other Safety Applications, Document Management tools/processes, Risk Management activities, Safety Operations activities and Trial Safety activities.
